Tibby Christenberry
Tibby Christenberry - Flute

Tibby Christenberry was born into a musical family, and grew up singing and playing chamber music with her parents and four siblings. With her husband, Bob, she similarly nurtured their three children’s musical development, and all perform publicly today.

Tibby’s flute studies began in Kansas City, with James Hamilton, and continued with John Boulton at the University of Kansas, where she graduated with a BME in music therapy. In Nashville, she has studied with Ann Richards and Erik Gratton.

Named Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts Outstanding Teacher in 2005, Tibby has maintained a private flute studio for over 20 years, and has been flute instructor at Belmont Academy since 2002. An avid performer and recitalist, she is the Principal Flute of the Nashville Philharmonic, with whom she has also appeared as soloist, and is a substitute for the Nashville Symphony.
