Dr. Jessica Dunnavant teaches flute for Belmont Academy. She is an adjunct professor in the School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University and she maintains a large private studio of young flutists in Middle Tennessee.
Dr. Dunnavant performs frequently with Music City Baroque on both Baroque flute and recorder, and she is half of Duo Elegancia with saxophonist Paula Van Goes. Regionally, she has performed with the Nashville, Jackson and Paducah Symphonies, and she has also been a substitute with the Tallahassee Symphony and the Central Wisconsin Symphony. Dr. Dunnavant has appeared at festivals around the Southeast, including Flute Festival Mid-South and the Florida Flute Fair. She is the Secretary for the Mid-South Flute Society, and her articles have been published in Flute Talk Magazine.
Dr. Dunnavant taught at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Florida State University and Texas A&M University-Kingsville before returning home to Middle Tennessee. She holds degrees from Middle Tennessee State University (B.M. 1998), Florida State University (M.M. 2000) and the University of Maryland (D.M.A. 2004). Her primary teachers were Yvonne Chavez Hansbrough, Charles DeLaney, and William Montgomery.
