Liz Langford graduated from Vanderbilt in 2003 majoring in violin performance. Her love for both classical and country music brought her to Nashville where she currently resides. She started playing the violin at age four, and became interested in fiddle music and entered her first fiddle competition when she was twelve years old. She has competed and won fiddle competitions in the United States, Canada, and Ireland. Some of her laurels include winning the Pennsylvania and West Virginia Sate Fiddle competition at age 14, Georgia State Fiddle Champion, in 2001, and 2002. In 2007 she was the champion of the Ohio State Fiddle Competition, whish she also won in 1999 and 2003.
While in Nashville, Liz has had the opportunity to play with artists such as Kanye West, Rissi Palmer, Trisha Yearwood, Styx, Transiberian Orchestra, Diana Krall, and Randy Newman. Liz has been teaching professionally since 2003, and has taught at Belmont University’s Belmont Academy since 2006. She received her teacher training from Carol Smith at the Blair School of Music and is a certified Suzuki teacher through the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
