Heidi Kemp - piano

Mrs. Kemp graduated with a Bachelors of Music in piano performance from Belmont University where she studied with Dr. Robert Marler and she has completed the coursework for her Masters degree from the University of Illinois where she studied with Dr. William Heiles. As a masters student she was awarded a teaching assistantship which allowed her to work with undergraduates wanting to study piano. During that time she also taught pre-college age students at the Champaign School of Music, in Champaign, IL. Mrs. Kemp has also studied with Marina Lomazov, who taught at the Brevard Music Festival.

Some of Mrs. Kemp’s performances include: The Mendelssohn Piano Concerto in G minor with the Belleville Youth Philharmonic, Mozart Piano Concerto No.20 with the Alton Symphony Orchestra, and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Alton Municipal Band and the Belmont University Band. She has also competed in several competitions and placed 2nd in the Marie Stillwell Young Artists Competition.

A life-long student of music and piano, Mrs. Kemp continues to study with Dr. Heiles and looks forward to performing and competing in the future. She is a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers. Her favorite composers are Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev.
