Donna Stokes-Rogers - voice
Donna Stokes-Rogers, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, earned a Bachelor
of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Birmingham-Southern College
and a Masters degree in Vocal Pedagogy at Belmont University. She is
a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the College
Music Society, and Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society-
Epsilon Eta and Alpha Epsilon Chapters. She is also a former Director
and Vocal Coordinator of Belmont Academy (2000-2005).
Donna is an enthusiastic interpreter of oratorio and has performed as
soprano soloist in concert performances of Haydn’s Lord Nelson
Mass, Mass in Time of War, and The Creation, Mozart’s Regina Coeli
and Grand Mass, Handel’s Messiah, and the Requiems of Brahms, Faure,
Rutter, and Duruflé, among others. She was selected as soprano
soloist under the baton of Sir David Willcocks in Vaughn-William’s
Hodie in 2000. Her opera roles include the Mother in Amahl and the Night
Visitors, Liu in L’Enfant Prodigue, and Adina in Elisir D’Amore.
She served as an apprentice with the Birmingham Opera Theatre for the
1987-88 season and has performed roles with Bel Canto Atlanta and the
Cartersville Opera. Her areas of interest include crossover techniques
for singers and choral pedagogy. Donna currently serves as Music Minister
at the historic St. Paul’s Episcopal church in Franklin, TN. She
happily resides with her husband, Burns, and her daughter, Madeline.
